Malta represented by five teams in the European Championships

Not less than twenty seven players will leave Malta today to participate in the European Eight Ball Pool Championships being held in Killarney, Ireland. The championships will set its balls rolling tomorrow and will come to an end on Friday with the finals.

Malta will be represented by five teams in these championships which will see more than 600 players offer their challenges in different categories.

The Under 23’s national team will be defending the title won last year in our country. Dejan Grech, Ryan Pisani, Ryan Falzon and Scott Muscat will stick to their guns to retain the title won by the Maltese three times in the last 5 years. The team will be managed by Jason Agius who mentored the team during last year’s victory.

Our Over 50’s World Champions team will be contending all opponents to win the title. Team captain Brian Grech together with Marcel Micallef, Tonio Mifsud, Manuel Mallia, Alfred Attard and world champion Christ Mills will be looking for their first European Title.

The Mens Team A, managed by Carmel Cilia, includes ex European Champion Anton Cuschieri, Kevin Mercieca, Dylan Cassar, Mario Cutajar, Miguel Falzon and Christ Tabone. All players are very well experienced and once again can leave their mark.

Antione Aquilina will be managing the Mens Team B which include Malcolm Azzopardi, Warren Falzon, Duncan Pisani, Wayne Bonnici, Troy Zammit and Phillip Zammit.

The Under 18’s team, managed by Saviour Mifsud, will be fielding Christian Sptieri, Liam Mifsud and Neil Caruana.

Twanny Mifsud and Mario Spiteri will be competing in the Over 50’s European Singles Championships.

Sasha Gauci will be officiating games during the championships

Once again the association will be covering all costs for these championships and will keep on sustaining its effort to increase its participation in the international fora.
